“Faith sees a beautiful blossom in a bulb, a lovely garden in a seed, and a giant oak in an acorn.” ~ William Arthur Ward
"Paul...identified my daughter's problem and was able to help my daughter to improve her test scores. He is very perceptive, sensitive, and kind. We have had other tutors, but Paul was the one that managed to help her. My daughter is now happily in college. I am sure glad that he was there when we needed it." -- Thankful mom
"I have been working with Jeff to prepare for my ACT test and I am happy to say that my scores have already begun to improve. Jeff has taught me valuable strategies that not only will help me on the ACT, but in other areas of my studies as well. Unlike many of my previous tutors, he is very patient and we work collaboratively to solve each problem. Jeff is extremely organized, prompt, and professional and I appreciate how easily we can communicate. As I continue to work with Jeff, I look forward to seeing more improvements in my testing in the future." -- B.R.
"Ariel is a top-notch college essay tutor! We can't thank her enough for her amazing help with our daughter. She has read thousands of college applications when she was working for the Stanford Admissions Office. That experience really shows in the way she guided my daughter to vastly improve her essay! We are so thankful to have found her." --A parent
"I want to give a big Thank-You to Jeff for all his help on preparing my daughter for the ACT. Jeff was very insightful in pinpointing what my daughter needed, allowing my daughter to make a 7 point improvement in a short time. Jeff was able to encourage my daughter to focus and concentrate even when she was somewhat reluctant. I think that was very helpful for my daughter. Thanks again." -- A Thankful Mom
"My daughter had excellent help from Paul for high school math. My daughter had struggled with math for years, had a high degree of anxiety around testing, and despite all this she persisted to challenge herself by taking high level math classes throughout high school. After working with Paul she became more relaxed and actually started to enjoy learning math. That was a first. We tried a few other tutors but none worked as well with her as Paul. Several of her friends also worked with Paul after she recommended him and got excellent results as well." -- A Fan
My son worked with Ariel on his college admissions essays. I found Ariel on Berkeley Parents Network which had a glowing review of her. Ariel worked remotely through Skype with my son which made it very easy for them to connect. I was skeptical at first, but then my son told me he loved it. In fact, she told me that she works remotely with people from all over the country.
Even though my son is not a very good writer, Ariel was able to help him tell his story. She began with a brainstorming Skype session to get my son started. She kept him on track by giving him assignments after every session which he was to complete before the next session. She also taught him that he needed to
revise and revise to improve his writing until it felt right. She was great at connecting with him and encouraging him all along the way. Both my son and I are very grateful for her help. He got into most of his top school choices. And he became a much better writer to boot. You can reach Ariel on her website:

Good Luck!-- A Parent
"I contacted Paul for my son who was having challenges with BC Calculus at BHS. Paul's weekly tutoring has helped my son identify his learning gaps and also work faster on the tests. He just received a 99 on his last Calculus test!" -- Grateful parent
"Ariel is an excellent admissions consultant! I used her services to apply to four business schools: Harvard Business School, Stanford GSB, Wharton and Columbia GSB. All the consulting takes place online, which was extremely helpful for me since I currently live in London. Ariel is very prompt in responding to emails and highly accommodating. We used Google docs as the medium for our work which worked really well since we could work in real time on something despite the time and geographical difference. I cannot stress enough the tremendous work she did in helping me improve my essays. As someone who graduated university over 3 years ago, I felt like I had interesting ideas but was lacking the ability to articulate them effectively in writing. Ariel listened to my stories patiently, worked with me to devise a central thesis, and assisted me in choosing themes that fit with the story I was trying to tell...all this while maintaining my voice in the essays. She has terrific experience as an application reader at Stanford's admissions office which she clearly brings to bear in her current role. Above all she brings a sense of calm and composure during the application process, which can otherwise be quite a stressful experience for students. I am extremely thankful to her and would strongly recommend her services to prospective students both at the undergrad and graduate school level." -- A.C.
"[My daughter] was great at everything except math. She felt so badly about herself that it started to affect her other classes, not to even speak of her mental health...After a few false starts, we finally found Paul who was able to engage her on an academic as well as emotional level. He figured out her issues and was able to help her improve her grades. She is happily in college now, thanks to his help with SAT preparation. Paul is now tutoring my younger daughter as well. Needless to say, we are very appreciative of his work." -- Berkeley High Parent
Dear Hilary, He submitted this morning!! And he did share his essays with me and his dad and we were both deeply impressed. I heard his voice in both of them and he was proud of both which counts for a lot. They also told a story, and flowed so well. We can't thank you enough, Hilary! --A relieved mom
